What is it that you do?
Make the best damn wedding films there ever were or will be (we're working on our outrageous egos! hahaha)
But seriously, we get welcomed into the worlds of strangers from so many different walks of life, into a day that will be as important and meaningful as any in their entire lives, and we walk out the other side of it with new friends and a love letter to them and their village in the form of a film (that we hope does them the justice they deserve)
We like to have A LOT of fun along the way, we like to become real friends with our couples so we can encroach on their dance floors later in the night ;)
How long have you been doing weddings?
7 glorious and coffee & wine filled years! Hard to believe really, it's been a whirlwind in every sense of the word
How long do brides normally book in advance?
Sometimes as little as 4 weeks, sometimes as much as 2 years. We don't mind either way but we hate having to tell people we're already booked (did we mention we're fully booked until September 2020....)
How can couples make their video personal?
That's our job! And we reckon by now we do it quite well (watch a few of our films and decide for yourself!) We just tell our couples to soak up every single second of it all and enjoy, and we'll do the rest - doesn't need to be any more complicated than that. We do also love meeting up with couples for a coffee (or something stronger) before the wedding day so we can become fast friends and get to know all their quirks - the better we know a couple the more we can really tailor something personal to them and their story. From there it's just about letting their personalities naturally shine through in their film, in the form of both speeches and unique music to fit their vibe.
How would you describe your style?
We don't fit a category (is that a category though?!) We love meeting couples and rarely talk about the wedding, we like talking shit and getting to know what the dynamic is like, what people are most looking forward to, their sense of humour, what is important and what's not - all of those things are fun to us and it helps us make a film that reflects the people in it, instead of the other way round.
Simply put, we don't have a style.
We don't force your film to fit our branding or inject anything into your story that doesn't naturally belong there, we just change it up per-wedding to reflect each couple. This allows us to stay true to your personality and story, which means we get to create something completely unique each wedding (and this makes us so damn happy).
Our mantra is 'Just as no two couples are the same, so too should none of our films be.'
If you could share one piece of advice what would it be?
You do you. Feel like you should do something but maybe it's not resonating with you? Kick it to the kerb. Not fussed about a cake but want to smash a piñata full of gummi bears to kick the celebrations off? Then you smash those gummie bears! First shots instead of a first dance? Shot away! Life's too short to let other peoples expectation weigh you down, especially on your wedding day, it should be a celebration of your lives together - no matter what that looks like.
What was one of the craziest weddings you have had?
That's so tough THERE'S SO MANY OUTRAGEOUS LEGENDS WE'VE FILMED! We filmed one in Spain that literally took place in a castle, with a super loose crowd that partied well into the early morning hours in a freakin' underground rave cave! A pizza truck turned up at 3am so everyone could feed and gear up for a few more hours of dancing. On top of that their family was so warm and welcoming, we felt like we were attending the wedding not filming it and we're still great friends with the bride and groom to date - what a dream.
Who do you think your style is suited for?
It's pretty broad and we don't like to put a label on who we do or don't get to hang with. We don't care who you love, what you do for a living or what your beliefs are, diversity is the fun part of this job for us and meeting wilding different people is what makes us happiest. We do tend to attract people who value film as a top priority and 'must have' for their wedding day, so I think we identify with folks who want their story told as honestly and creatively as possible - which is the reason we got into this business in the first place. There's plenty of film companies out there that will whip up a decent film to cover the events of your day but we pride ourselves on storytelling, preferring to create a story not just of your wedding but of the history that's lead you to this point - if you love a good and genuine story then you're our people.
Tell us more about you?
We're Grace + Andrew and we are your average weirdos who love a chat & a cheeky few too many reds or whiskys on a week night. We've been together for 7 years and have spent them completely in each others pockets, travelling, working and living - and we still dig each other (most of the time - we're only human folks) ;)
We've travelled 16 countries together since we met, 10 of those for weddings including Fiji, Malta, NZ, Canada, New York, France, Hawaii, Spain, South Africa and Thailand. We've shot in every state and territory of Australia (except the ACT - Canberra peeps we lookin' at you!).
We run our business honestly and don't pretend to be anything other than what we are - we're real people with a passion for film, our online presence reflects that so get ready to see some random daily antics on our instagram (Andrew says I'm a pest who exploits him to the online world - but he's an exhibitionist, he loves it).
