What Do I Do Now? Tips for Planning Your Wedding Around the Coronavirus

Let's face it, it has been a pretty strange few months. I have been getting so many emails from my couples stressed about what decisions they need to make for their upcoming wedding. It's difficult, right? So much is changing, and it's happening so fast. So, for you guys wondering what to do next, here are my tips for working through this tricky situation so that you can find the right way to celebrate your love in style, share the happiness with friends and family - and stay safe and well.

Keep an eye on the COVID WEDDING updates
Things are changing all the time, so make sure you keep up to date with travel information and advice on large gatherings, first we had seen large gatherings be restricted, then the rules changed as the COVID cases had slowly started declining. But know honestly who knows. Stay updated but not to updated that it consumes you. Think about alternative back up plans if for some reason the rules do change close to your wedding date.

Contact your vendors
If you already have bookings, contact your vendors and chat to them about it.

They'll be able to help advise you and let you know how they are handling it, or they'll be able to let you know if things will need to change. Maybe speak with your venue, and priority vendors (eg photographer) to see if they can line up an alternative date or pencil something in. Be flexible on your date change, sometimes its just about working together to ensure you dont have to go down the path of trying to get refunds, canceling vendors etc.

Hygiene
Protecting against spreading the virus will need to factor into your plans. Again, your vendors will have their own plan, and you can talk to them about seating people further apart or moving to an outdoor area and making sure people can wash their hands, etc.

VIP guests
There are some people that just have to be there, right? Like Mum and Dad. If travel restrictions mean the VIP's can't make it, then you might want to start looking at other options. Rescheduling, downsizing, and eloping are all alternatives to think about. You can always throw a big party to celebrate later when things settle down.

We have had a number of couples continue the wedding planning but deciding with the unsureness of COVID that they would elope and have a large formal day/reception at a later date if your considering this make sure you have your photographer cover this.

Staying positive
Even if you're only newly engaged and just starting to plan, this situation will have thrown you off your game. We can't know exactly how things will go, but my advice would be to look to the future and plan for what you've dreamed of but try to be adaptable too.

Look after yourselves and stay focused on the most important things – your loved ones and your health. The rest will fall into place.

We are always here to help so if you have already booked your wedding, photographer etc but your just a little unsure, feel free to send us a message and we will do everything we can do help.
